So I have a new novella out.
It’s called The Crystal Sword and is the first in a new series in the genre of what used to be known as Planetary Romance (or sometimes Sword & Planet) – a genre which features someone from our world transported to another, swordfighting, monsters, beautiful princesses, that sort of thing. Fast-paced fun, without too much thinking to slow you down.
You may also recognise many of the elements of Planetary Romance as being present and correct in a very successful series which started in 1977, oh, I can’t recall, what’s that film called again?
The genre began with the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel A Princess of Mars (who you probably know better as the creator of Tarzan) and was very popular until the mid 70s or so, but has fallen out of fashion these days.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the genre, and a desire to write in it so, well, I did.
The second and third novellas have already been written and should be coming out over the next couple of months while I write the fourth.
The novellas are all short reads – about 15,000 words or so apiece – and will be collected into a novel once they’re all out.
You can buy it on Kindle for a couple of quid in the UK and less than three bucks in the US (other countries are available) or read the whole thing for free if you’re a member of Kindle Unlimited.
